California State University at San Marcos officials have announced plans to significantly increase police patrols and security measures around residence halls and other campus locations following a distressing series of reported sexual assaults. The decision comes in the wake of four reported rapes and one additional sexual assault on campus within a span of just three weeks this month, according to reports from The Coast News Group and NBC San Diego.<\/p>\n

University officials have stated that the reported incidents are unrelated to one another, though the individuals involved were known to each other. Our police, housing staff and Title IX staff are ready and willing to help and are already in action, Neufeldt said in her statement. This may be something that happens across our nation on college campuses, but we are never going to say it is OK.<\/p>\n
